We spent the whole summer by the lake
The skies were endless and forgiving
Our laughter skimmed the surface
Like the stones on the wake
We wore sunburns like medals
Drank from the same bottle
We said forever
But don’t remember
We shared moments
Towels
And time
The silence between us now
Freezes a warm heart
Slowly but surely
We went our own ways
Even though it’s over
I think about you often
When I see the lake and feel the heaviness
I know it remembers us
I don’t say your names aloud anymore
Do you remember that summer too
